Busy month for big postcard fairs

Flaming June is a busy month for some of the country’s top fairs.

Shows were being held today (Sunday June 2) at both Bristol and Leicester – but there are plenty of other venues which will attract a minimum 14 postcard dealers this month, including both Canterbury and Thornton Hough next Saturday (June 8).

On Sunday June 23, Reading Postcard Club puts on its annual fair – the biggest event organised by a club in the country, with more than 60 dealers expected at the Rivermead Leisure Centre. Picture Postcard Monthly (PPM) will be there, with a half-price sale of postcards!

On Saturday June 29, there is again action both north and south, with fairs at Shoreham-by-Sea and Preston; with the ever-popular Etc Fairs show at the Royal National Hotel, London, the next day.

Full details are in the June issue of PPM, out now – and available for order via our website.

Major articles in this month’s edition include a look at pioneering postcard artist Marian Gardiner; a special report into the postcards of Fred S Howard and Misch & Co; why postcards are a slice of history; and the scuttling of the German Fleet after World War One.

There’s also an interesting story linking a Southampton orphanage, World War One and the sinking¬† of the Titanic.

The annual subscription is just £40 a year in the UK.
