There’s some great postcard fairs lined up for the first few weeks of 2018.
Some of the bigger events include Leeds (January 7), Northampton on Jan 13 and Anne Scott has her two showpiece events at Bristol on Jan 13 and Exeter seven days later.
Details of these events and all the other fairs around the country are in the January issue of Picture Postcard Monthly, which is now available for sale.
And the countdown is now under way to the world’s biggest show – at Shepton Mallet – when just about everyone who is anyone in the hobby will descend on the quiet Somerset market town on March 23 and 24. Organiser Barrie Rollinson told PPM that he is delighted with the way that bookings are shaping up.
The January issue contains some great features, including one by Scottish based dealer Richard Stenlake, who tells, through postcards, how his airman grandfather, Second-Lieutenant Frank Holder, was awarded the Military Cross for his part in shooting down the L48 zeppelin over British soil in 1917 World War One.
Other major stories include John Claydon taking us on a trip to the zoo, a look at some of the work of Dutch artist Rie Cramer, part four of our series of five articles on famous French publishers Levy Sons and Co, and we report on North Wales Postcard Club’s special project to put together a fully comprehensive list of publishers in their region.
There is also our usual look at news, views, the auction scene and three lively letters pages.
